#1 Machu Piccu Real Estate Lesson – Location!   Incas intentionally  located their City next to natural resources, the jungle.  This location provided a rich, accessible supply of food & materials to sustain urban life!

#2 Machu Picchu Real Estate Lesson – Mixed Use!  The Inca City had mixed uses, residential, religious & commercial (astronomy & agricultural) all in walking distance.  Today, urban cities follow this Inca model as they adopt  form-based-pedestrian-friendly-mixed use zoning codes- just like the Inca’s enjoyed over 600 years ago!

#3 Machu Picchu Real Estate Lesson- Architecture Blends with Nature!  Incas built Machu Picchu to blend and fit with its natural environment.  Urban cities today follow this practice, for example, the luxury Larcomar Mall in Peru’s Capital, Lima, is built into a cliff overlooking the ocean.   Blending  architecture with the environment also helps structures withstand the test of time & natural disasters, like earthquakes.

#4 Machu Picchu Real Estate Lesson – Transportation!  Everyone’s  heard of the Inca Trail, it was one of many ways to get to the Inca City!  Today we see all world-class cities include a good transportation systems.

When you think of Machu Picchu, think of these 4 Inca Real Estate Lessons, you can apply them now when you search for the type of place you’d like to live, develop or own property!
